EET’s product SolMate, an out-of-the-box home photovoltaic storage system, has taken Austrians by storm since the #DT4G event in Stuttgart in November 2018.
The company, which can now proudly call itself an ‘energy genius’, went on to win the Innovation Award at the Wels Energiesparmesse Expo Energy on 1st March. Austrian Federal Minister Elisabeth Köstinger awarded the prize to EET at the Messehalle Wels.
The next stepping stone came in April 2019: EET made an appearance on the TV programme 2 Minuten 2 Millionen, similar to the British business reality show Dragon’s Den, on Puls4 to pitch their SolMate to well-known Austrian investors. The jurors were blown away by the product.
Similarly, on 9th April Federal Minister Margarete Schramböck and President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce Harald Mahrer presented EET with a coveted Born Global Champion Award at the 4GAMECHANGERS Festival in Vienna’s MARX HALLE. 4GAMECHANGERS celebrates innovative product ideas that focus on international markets and make a positive contribution to the Austrian export economy.
As an innovative start-up in the energy sector, EET received the Mission Innovation Award 2019 for their product SolMate in Stegersbach in May, giving them the opportunity to be part of the Austrian delegation at the Fourth Mission Innovation Ministerial in Vancouver. At the event they discussed new ideas and best practices for developing affordable and sustainable clean energy solutions with ministers, leaders and innovators from 24 countries.
Also in May of this year, the EES – Europe’s largest international trade fair for batteries and energy storage systems – took place in Munich. EET not only attended but was also one of the Smarter E Europe award finalists alongside major players such as Siemens and Huawei.
June was no less impressive: the sixth Fifteen Seconds Festival was held in Graz at the beginning of June. Every year this spectacular event brings together global makers and thinkers from Google, CERN, Harvard, Facebook, Pornhub and many more. Having been selected for the finals on the start-up stage on the very first day, the young company scooped up the festival’s start-up award in front of thousands of people on the second day and won a coaching session in New York as well as an advertising sponsorship. At the same time, also on 6th June, EET appeared on Austria’s biggest public TV channel in the documentary Jetzt oder nie – Ist diese Welt noch zu retten? (‘Now or never: can this world still be saved?’) with their product SolMate.
And it didn’t stop there: SolMate has recently been nominated one of the finalists of the Austrian State Prize for Design. The winner will be announced on 25th September in Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier. Afterwards SolMate is going on tour throughout Austria and will be exhibited in design forums in Vienna, Dornbirn, Innsbruck and Graz.
