We are developing a very unique technology that harnesses offshore altitude wind using kites. A simple but highly innovative technology that harnesses the immense and consistent power in deep sea offshore altitude wind combined with the power of subsea oceanic pressure to provide reliable, low-cost clean electrical energy and energy storage. This technology eliminates the variability of wind and turns wind into an on-demand electrical power source or what is known in the energy markets as dispatchable power (the world’s first). This technology will open up the ability to exploit deep sea offshore wind today, cost effectively and simultaneously provide a solution to the problem of energy storage which is ultimately the missing link to a future powered by renewables. The technology is a combination of a form of pumped hydro storage and wind power. Using the same principles as pumped hydro storage but instead of using height we are using sea depth and pressure to obtain the same results using a hydroelectric turbine. The potential of this technology is that it could be a game changer for the 21st century in terms of developing a renewable energy system that can outcompete fossil fuels on power density, energy density, cost and scalability while also providing dispatchable and reliable power generation to the grid. In addition, it’s ultimately wind power which eliminates carbon emissions entirely from power production. This technology can rapidly accelerate the transition to renewables and worldwide electrification; lowering the cost of energy and increasing security of supply.
Lee King is the concept architect, founder and CEO of the company. He is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen and has over 15 years of experience in business management, business development, investment funds, project finance, investment and technology strategies, as well as within projects focusing on water desalination, water security and energy.
Carmen Reiter is co-founder of the company and a project manager with over 7 years of experience in grid management and energy storage systems. She is a graduate of the University of Applied Sciences FH Joanneum (Austria) and holds a BSC and a MSc in Energy and Transport Management with specialisation in energy. She has extensive project management experience at the largest electricity grid operator in Austria. She has significant experience in energy systems, energy management, process and risk management, and cross engineering disciplines.
Abdulla Ghaly is an IT systems integrator. He is a graduate of Queens Mary University and Imperial College London with an MSc in Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering. He has over 10 years experience as a technical IT support analyst for one of the largest integrated utility companies in the UK.
Ercument Alyanak is a mechanical engineer with over 20 years of experience in wind turbine technology, aerodynamics and wind energy. He is a graduate of Dokuz Eylül University and holds two engineering degrees. He has extensive experience in spearheading and implementing effective technology strategies. He has also worked extensively on wind turbine aerodynamics, and the integration of renewable energy conversion systems into the grid.
Stephan Schröder is a graduate of the Technical University of Dresden in economics and mechanical engineering. He has over 10 years of professional experience working in cutting-edge research and engineering projects, predominantly in kite dynamics, automation, and control mechanisms. He has successfully developed and commercialized an automated kite propulsion system for pleasure crafts.
